If you haven’t seen David Zinn’s art, you are in for a real treat! With just chalk and his imagination, he creates adorable creatures on sidewalks, walls, and in other places you’d least expect them. His 3D scenes are all so fabulously whimsical that it’s impossible to choose a favorite. Sluggo, the bright green monster pictured below, is pure magic.
If I were more impulsive, I may have already moved to Ann Arbor to find Sluggo, or just to be at the ready to provide some help in case Philomena, the flying pig, is up to more of her shenanigans.
But even though I may never personally encounter one of these adorable creatures in their natural habitat, they bring joy to my life. Levity to those trying days. A smile to my face. (Inside I’m absolutely squealing with delight.)
Zinn’s work is an act of love to strangers, and a wonderful reminder that there is beauty in impermanence, and many ways to sprinkle joy into the world.
